Our Classic / Specialist Motor Insurance Suppliers

CHERISHED CAR UNDERWRITING AGENCY
In simple terms they act as a wholesaler selling their own branded policy which is underwritten by Norwich Union or the NIG. They now have the advantage of offering, as an extra to their own policy a RAC Breakdown and Recovery policy which includes Europe. We started dealing with them in June 2002. They are also have a more relaxed policy over the anti theft requirements on the lower value classics. Unfortunately they are quite strict on the paperwork side. In order to keep down costs they insist on all the photo's, (copy club membership card if your claiming the club discount) being submitted with the proposal form. For the values to remain agreed there has to be a current MOT in force at the time a the loss. RENEWAL PROCEDURE-They send out a renewal invitation and a renewal declaration form. This form must be completed and returned with your payment .Every third year they require fresh photos with the declaration. MID TERM WORK-duplicate certificates etc their minimum charge is £15.75 + our charge of £8 = £23.75
KGM Motor policies at Lloyds
I have a soft spot for the KGM because when the Norwich Union became far less flexible and selective they gave us an agency .As we proved ourselves they were able to be more flexible on the risks they wrote for us. They became quite cautious about 4 years ago becoming more selective and concerned by low premiums and high values on sports cars. I am pleased to say they are coming out to play again. I have the Sprite and some of my other toys with them. Their garage requirement is more rigorous and they charge for green cards. They will some times cover low value classics vehicles that are not garaged at an extra cost .They also help us with Kits cars commercials and the odd ball risks like fire engines etc. They have one office in London and are only involved in motor Insurance. KGM RENEWAL PROCEDURE - They have a simple procedure sending out a renewal invitation which we forward to you . They require an annual mileage declaration but seldom ask for fresh photos MID TERM WORK -duplicate certificates etc their minimum charge is £12.60 plus our £8 = £20.60
NIG
They ventured in to Classic car insurance in 2000 and we had access to their rates in November 2000. We already have a large account with them for standard car, household and a few commercial business policies. Their normal requirements to agreed values, plus a very selective approach delayed our involvement their classic side. With the demise of the Independent Insurance they reacted very quickly. They have now agreed to insure a wider selection of vehicles and their use. They will also consider upgraded / modifications / non-standard storage such as garage away from home.NIG are now a significant player in the classic car market. The NIG are part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. NIG RENEWAL PROCEDURE - They send a renewal invitation which we then forward to you. Every second renewal ( after two complete years of insurance with them including the first year)they require a fresh set of photos and a valuation letter.MID TERM WORK -duplicate certificates etc £21 plus our charge £8 = £29
NORWICH UNION
The Norwich Union became our first supplier and we still have quite a lot of business with them. At one time they had a local office in Stoke and could negotiate with them. Now it's all done through their Special Vehicle Unit in Norwich and there is less flexibility. Most of the time the are around 10%-30% more expensive than the market.RENEWAL PROCEDURE They have a simple procedure sending us a renewal invitation which we forward to you. They do not ask for milage/renewal declarations or photos under normal circumstances.
Spectrum/Roadsure
They act as a wholesaler and have a strong KGM connection . They have schemes for Landrover club members. They will also insure modified Landrovers and even offer a reduced cost TPF&T option on that scheme. They have schemes for - Classic car - Kit cars - American cars Military Vehicles - Custom car
Wholesalers
We use insurance wholesalers because insurance companies give special deals for volume business. These wholesalers look to other professionals to help them increase their volume and thus maintain their schemes. With our expertise we can find a suitable policy for a wider selection of risks that we are asked to find a price for.It is a fact of life that because of volume sales wholesalers can some times obtain cover for risks insurers will not allow us to place direct with them .
